Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we took Boden on his first trip to the Pumpkin Patch! We met our friends who also have a son a few months older than Boden at the Walnut Cafe for a delicious brunch - before heading over to Cottonwood Farms. There were hayrides- red wagons, working farm animals, and obviously lots and lots of pumpkins that you pick right off the vine. Although it was unseasonably warm (in the 80s!) - we had a wonderful time. And Boden loved riding in the wagon, eating dirt, hanging on a fence that was 5 feet off the ground, crawling on pumpkins, and watching the animals.

Austin, Texas

Steve, Boden and I took a quick trip at the end of September to visit our friends in Austin, Texas! It ended up being a sort of Jakarta International School mini reunion (with spouses of course). Kelsey ordered in Indoniesain food - and we watched all the babies play together. What fun to all be at the same place in life (spit-up, sleepless nights, cooing for babies). It was evident that times had changed when at midnight on Friday night we all rushed home to relieve the baby sitter (Colin's amazing Mom - Linda, and his Grandma sat for Sloane and Boden).

We stayed with Colin and Kerri, and just love their new house in Austin - and Boden was more then a little smitten with Sloane (you know, when he wasn't crawling over her to get to a toy). Although, there was lots of baby eye candy all weekend- Boden was surrounded by his bevy of lovely ladies (Sloane, Lyla and of course his good friend Maya).

It might even have to become an annual event. It was so much fun! Great friends, Food (both Mexican and Indonesian), and accommodations.

Brian and Meghan's Wedding

A few weekends ago the finale of our California trip was at Laguna Beach for the wedding of Brian and Meghan. They had a beautiful ceremony right on the beach in front of the Hotel Laguna, with a fabulous reception to follow.

Boden didn't even realize that he was going to be immediately accepted by all the cousin's as one of their own. The kids swarmed - and Boden loved it! Even dancing on the dance floor with some bouncy action. Getting his feet tickled by Sofia, bear hugged by Grady, head rubbed by Andrew and Neo. It was so fun to see him with all the kids (and reminded me of how wonderful it is to have so many cousins). The reception was over far too early for us (although Boden fell asleep).

Cheers to a wonderful life and marriage Brian and Meghan!

Half Marathon

Labor Day weekend is the annual Disneyland Half Marathon. I've run it three times in the past, but never with my Dad. In fact, I’ve never run ANY half marathon with my father - even though we've planned a few over the years. Last October, because I was pregnant with Boden, my wonderful Husband took my place and ran with my Dad for the Denver Rock and Roll half marathon. But this year, we were motivated – nay obligated (due to signing up early) to run together. For a brief moment in time we were also both trained… that is until a fateful Sunday afternoon two weeks before the race. While playing co-ed outdoor soccer, as stopper I went in against an opposing male player. He slid into my heel as I cleared the ball, sending me hurdling to the ground screaming. I thought it was broken for a moment. Then I regained my composure and hobbled off the field. After the swelling went down, Steve and I decided a trip to the urgent care would be helpful. They found two fractures! But a few days later after meeting with an orthopedist, she said she thought the fractures were probably old. (Hear that? I’m so awesome I break my foot and don’t even know it). We decided I could run on it. Yay! (Plus this allowed me to have an excuse for being so slow!)

The race ended up being a blast! We felt good, and stayed by the tried and true Godlewski mantra of “Start off slow – then tapper”. I swear one of these days I’ll run a fast race – but this was NOT one of those days. Not that I feel any regret. Heck, just making it to the starting line means we already beat all the people sleeping in. Plus the Disneyland atmosphere is incredible. Pictures being taken with characters, music, rides, the fantastic Anaheim highschools that come out to cheer. What a great way to spend time with my Dad before his 62nd birthday! And Boden was the best super-fan ever (sorry Andrea)! He was on Steve’s shoulders at various points during the race. I would see him before I saw Steve and my Mom. And let me tell you – there is nothing better than seeing the surprise on your 7 month old babies face when you run up and say “Hi Buddy” (followed by confusion as I run off slowly into the distance).

Who is in for next year?

Baby Date

Boden and I have been in California for the week. Taking some time to relax with the grandparents (although I am working from here). Boden even got in baby date #2 with Maya (who is a week younger). So cute! More to come on our trip - but I had to post the date photos.

Grammies and Playdates

Wow has August just flown by. This month Grammie Elaine came to visit for a week to help us out. It was such a fun week. We got to go to the Butterfly Pavilion - make some babyfood - happy hour at the St. Julien with Boden's other Nonna, Alexa - (we do love happy hours these days). We've also been lucky to have Nonna come and spend Friday Afternoons with Boden when she can.

Our other adventure comes from meeting another family with a baby - from our awesome music class that we go to. The father's even accidentally wore matching shirts. How cute is that? Boden is quite the water baby (even though the temperature in the creek had to be well below 40 degrees!)

We're looking forward to our September adventures and Brian and Meghan's wedding!
