Strider Bike

Boden has some pretty awesome grown up friends - Michelle & Alex/ AJ & Logan got him this sweet balance bike for his first birthday. Although he was a little small for it then, he really likes to practice. I think he's almost big enough to start riding. What do you think?

On a side note - Steve and I are both proud owners of the new iphone 5. I even made poor Boden skip daycare on Friday morning so he could stand-in and buy Daddy his phone. So lots more/ high definition videos and photos will be captured.

Oh Boy!

Its official - Baby Dos is a little Boy! Steve claims he knew all along (He never wavered - not once). I was more surprised by the "BOY!" comment (really, I've felt so terrible, this pregnancy feels so different from the first, and this baby is NOT a girl?). But after my initial shock, and Steve and I going out to lunch (Burgers and fries) to discuss the prospect of two little boys, two years apart, I'm getting really excited. I mean, sorry kiddo, but we don't have to buy you new clothes or shoes for ... well... until you and Boden are in the same size. Other pluses ... not having to save for weddings, boys are generally not drama queens in the teen years, and our little guys will hopefully grow up and be best buddies. So without further adieu - meet Mr. Milo Edward Fezler (obviously the middle name is for the Twilight vampire - those names are just so popular these days - and not for my Father, and both; yes, both of my Grandfathers). But we'll just let them think its for them.

Already playing soccer at 13 weeks in utero! What Talent!

Big Changes - ahead

With the news of the new addition to our family - we decided it was time for a move. We love our house, we love our house so much (although for a few months here during the terrible heat, with no A/C - we hated our house... a lot). I love the open floor plan - how close it is to everything in Boulder (we walk or ride our bikes to parks, trails, pearl street, music class, whole foods etc., etc.). But there are also some things that aren't going to work for us. One bathroom is one thing - having to have a home office for me to work is another as it means we don't have a bedroom for that upcoming addition to our family, or for any visiting guests. And our one car garage is filled with odds and ends and bikes, snowboards, and strollers.

But, we've never used or needed a baby monitor. I love my gas cooktop and huge counters - and the backyard is perfect for playing in the snow - tossing bean bags during a BBQ, or just playing in the sprinklers. We know its time to move on, but we do love our little house in Boulder.

So, in late July we put our house on the market. Sadly, around that time the inventory of our perspective areas totally dwindled (apparently people love to finalize moves in the suburbs before school starts). We got an offer - and it was great, but sadly the couple making the offer got cold feet and backed out during the inspection process. Probably better in the long run, as there are still no houses we love on the market. So - keep your fingers crossed for us!

Have you ever told a story, or just reminisced about the house you grew up in? I didn't want to forget our house, so I took a few photos while everything was clean - so we can look back someday and say "Aweee, our first house. that house was the best". Also, for those of you who haven't had a chance to visit. This was our house, hopefully our next one will have a basement and lots of room for guests!

Aging Disgracefully

No no - the title isn't a dis on some Octogenarians... Steve's grandparents do really make jokes about aging disgracefully. But they sure seem to be having a good time doing it.

The same weekend as Katie's shower, The Elder Fezlers (Marge and Oliver) drove through on their motorcycle and sidecar for a quick visit. Boden warmed up right away and enjoyed reading stories with his Great Grandma. Although I wasn't at home for much of their visit, everyone was well rested, and well fed (with cedar plank Salmon) when I returned from the Shower. Boden was most thrilled when he got to sit on the Harley to say goodbye to his Greats.

Robinson Baby Shower

I had fun photoshopping (Katie and Simon as toddlers)
My college roommate, rowing buddy and former Heterosexual Life Partner (as we often nannied and joked about raising families together) is expecting her first child with her Husband Simon this October. I was so excited to be on her shower committee with three of her other friends. It was my first official shower! I had so many awesome ideas and help from all the showers I'd been to and those that had been thrown for me. My cousin Betty is clearly the shower guru and I realize just how much work it takes to bring it all together! Special thanks also to Pinterest for wasting hours of my time with awesome ideas. I really did make those tissue paper pom-poms!

Katie and Simon are NOT finding out the sex of their baby... which is super exciting (but oh how I wish I could buy ridiculous baby outfits as gifts - I mean seriously, tutus and tiny ties, what baby doesn't need a miniature brief case for their ipad?). The final theme was owls (based on the nursery) and tying into the book idea. Everyone brought a book. Some of my favorite parts of the shower were decorating onsies, watching Katie try to figure out Simon's answers on an interview we set up with him, and listening to Katie's mom tell stories of her and her brother when they were little. I have a feeling Katie and Simon will have their hands full. The dessert was a huge hit - miniature pies from a fabulous local restaurant called The Huckleberry. We're so excited for them to become parents (yay! friends who will have to leave by 7pm and can't go out on week nights)! Congrats to the new Parents (my vote is now officially a girl - end of September... for the record).
