More to come...

excuse the resolution, these are screenshots
We're back now from our holiday in Southern California after celebrating Thanksgiving and visiting with my family. I couldn't believe it had been a year since we visited.

It was so much fun to spend time with my parents, and family, and even Steve's sister and her husband drove down to spend some time with us, and my cousin Melissa and her family. I think Boden especially loved having Uncle Brian and Aunt Brenda dote on him.

The weather was so amazing that we got to swim, go to the park, and we even got a special treat of going to Disneyland. Although we love Disney, we have never talked about, nor do we have anything with Mickey Mouse on it. For some reason Boden LOVES Mickey Mouse. Loves him! It was so much fun to actually meet him. Although Boden was a little nervous at first, when Daddy stood between them Boden kept waiving and saying "Hi Mickey Mouse, Hi Mickey Mouse"!

Hi Mickey, Hi Mickey!

What a fantastic trip. More photos and stories to come!

Pumpkin Patch

Two weeks ago, we dressed up Boden and took him to Cotton Wood Farms, the same pumpkin patch we went to last year. Oh what a difference a year makes. Boden refused to ride in the wagon this time, instead the whole time he insisted on pulling it "MYSELF!".

There were some animals there - and a little corn maze too. Funny enough both Steve and I discovered it was our first corn maze too. Nobody got lost, but one little Raccoon (I won't name names), tried to taste some of the corn (even though signs insisted not to eat it).

We all picked out a pumpkin (the squirrels have since eaten huge chunks out of almost all of them). And then went out to a wonderful dinner as a family. What a gorgeous evening for a pumpkin patch.

Soccer Stud

Believe it or not, there is snow on the ground today. But, on Sunday Boden and I enjoyed watching Steve's final fall soccer game. Here is Boden being just like daddy (we're pretty impressed by his skills).

He's also becoming such an amazing and talkative little guy. Although he always asks for Mac and Cheese for dinner, Boden is pretty adventurous. I think his second favorite meal might just be Pad Thai and tofu.

Into the Wild

Some iPhone photos from yesterday

A beautiful October day in Boulder (Delilah and I went walking at Bobolinx)

Both Boden and I are counting down the days months until Steve is finished with grad school. Now that Boden is old enough to ask where Daddy is at night it makes us miss him that much more. But not to fear, we only have until May and then we'll feel like we have all the time in the world together.

Sunflower Farms

Llama  Llama!
Boden's daycare  had today (Columbus Day) off for staff planning and training. So, Steve got to work from home a bit, and actually take most of the morning off. We decided to visit Sunflower Farms a cute, organic, local farm. Boden was a little tentative at first, but quickly warmed up to feeding all the animals. They even had a huge corn house (with the dried corn for the sheep/ goats and Llamas) that all the kids (and Steve) could dive into.

There was so much to do, that we really couldn't squeeze it all in before nap. We decided to save the pony ride, the giant tree house, and the tractor ride for next time.

So much fun!

Move out of the way!

Falling for Fall

pumpkin muffins with cream cheese frosting
It seemed like the summer would never end around here when we finally got a few great cold fronts. Suddenly the house has cooled off, the leaves are changing color, and the sunlight seems a little more golden in the mornings. To get into the spirit of things, for my monthly book club I made pumpkin muffins with cream cheese frosting (yum)! And as another book club is later this week, I have to rack my brain for another tasty treat to bring.

How is it already October? We're still waiting on the house to sell, although we may just take it off the market after next week and get a storage until and "reorganize" for a while. Wish us luck in whatever ensues. The good news is - if we stay, we don't need a baby monitor (the house is conveniently small like that).

Strider Bike

Boden has some pretty awesome grown up friends - Michelle & Alex/ AJ & Logan got him this sweet balance bike for his first birthday. Although he was a little small for it then, he really likes to practice. I think he's almost big enough to start riding. What do you think?

On a side note - Steve and I are both proud owners of the new iphone 5. I even made poor Boden skip daycare on Friday morning so he could stand-in and buy Daddy his phone. So lots more/ high definition videos and photos will be captured.

Oh Boy!

Its official - Baby Dos is a little Boy! Steve claims he knew all along (He never wavered - not once). I was more surprised by the "BOY!" comment (really, I've felt so terrible, this pregnancy feels so different from the first, and this baby is NOT a girl?). But after my initial shock, and Steve and I going out to lunch (Burgers and fries) to discuss the prospect of two little boys, two years apart, I'm getting really excited. I mean, sorry kiddo, but we don't have to buy you new clothes or shoes for ... well... until you and Boden are in the same size. Other pluses ... not having to save for weddings, boys are generally not drama queens in the teen years, and our little guys will hopefully grow up and be best buddies. So without further adieu - meet Mr. Milo Edward Fezler (obviously the middle name is for the Twilight vampire - those names are just so popular these days - and not for my Father, and both; yes, both of my Grandfathers). But we'll just let them think its for them.

Already playing soccer at 13 weeks in utero! What Talent!

Big Changes - ahead

With the news of the new addition to our family - we decided it was time for a move. We love our house, we love our house so much (although for a few months here during the terrible heat, with no A/C - we hated our house... a lot). I love the open floor plan - how close it is to everything in Boulder (we walk or ride our bikes to parks, trails, pearl street, music class, whole foods etc., etc.). But there are also some things that aren't going to work for us. One bathroom is one thing - having to have a home office for me to work is another as it means we don't have a bedroom for that upcoming addition to our family, or for any visiting guests. And our one car garage is filled with odds and ends and bikes, snowboards, and strollers.

But, we've never used or needed a baby monitor. I love my gas cooktop and huge counters - and the backyard is perfect for playing in the snow - tossing bean bags during a BBQ, or just playing in the sprinklers. We know its time to move on, but we do love our little house in Boulder.

So, in late July we put our house on the market. Sadly, around that time the inventory of our perspective areas totally dwindled (apparently people love to finalize moves in the suburbs before school starts). We got an offer - and it was great, but sadly the couple making the offer got cold feet and backed out during the inspection process. Probably better in the long run, as there are still no houses we love on the market. So - keep your fingers crossed for us!

Have you ever told a story, or just reminisced about the house you grew up in? I didn't want to forget our house, so I took a few photos while everything was clean - so we can look back someday and say "Aweee, our first house. that house was the best". Also, for those of you who haven't had a chance to visit. This was our house, hopefully our next one will have a basement and lots of room for guests!

Aging Disgracefully

No no - the title isn't a dis on some Octogenarians... Steve's grandparents do really make jokes about aging disgracefully. But they sure seem to be having a good time doing it.

The same weekend as Katie's shower, The Elder Fezlers (Marge and Oliver) drove through on their motorcycle and sidecar for a quick visit. Boden warmed up right away and enjoyed reading stories with his Great Grandma. Although I wasn't at home for much of their visit, everyone was well rested, and well fed (with cedar plank Salmon) when I returned from the Shower. Boden was most thrilled when he got to sit on the Harley to say goodbye to his Greats.

Robinson Baby Shower

I had fun photoshopping (Katie and Simon as toddlers)
My college roommate, rowing buddy and former Heterosexual Life Partner (as we often nannied and joked about raising families together) is expecting her first child with her Husband Simon this October. I was so excited to be on her shower committee with three of her other friends. It was my first official shower! I had so many awesome ideas and help from all the showers I'd been to and those that had been thrown for me. My cousin Betty is clearly the shower guru and I realize just how much work it takes to bring it all together! Special thanks also to Pinterest for wasting hours of my time with awesome ideas. I really did make those tissue paper pom-poms!

Katie and Simon are NOT finding out the sex of their baby... which is super exciting (but oh how I wish I could buy ridiculous baby outfits as gifts - I mean seriously, tutus and tiny ties, what baby doesn't need a miniature brief case for their ipad?). The final theme was owls (based on the nursery) and tying into the book idea. Everyone brought a book. Some of my favorite parts of the shower were decorating onsies, watching Katie try to figure out Simon's answers on an interview we set up with him, and listening to Katie's mom tell stories of her and her brother when they were little. I have a feeling Katie and Simon will have their hands full. The dessert was a huge hit - miniature pies from a fabulous local restaurant called The Huckleberry. We're so excited for them to become parents (yay! friends who will have to leave by 7pm and can't go out on week nights)! Congrats to the new Parents (my vote is now officially a girl - end of September... for the record).

AJ and Logan's Wedding

AJ and Logan getting married in Estes Park, CO

Mid July Steve and I were honored to  be in our friend AJ and Logan's Wedding. Now, although there is some debate about who actually introduced the two and formed the love connection. (As the sparks started flying at our friend Alex and Michelle's wedding the year before, and Michelle claims it was her table arrangement - however, I'm pretty sure I started scheming a few weeks before at our other friend's wedding when it was apparent that AJ and Logan would totally hit it off - we currently agree that both of us were instrumental in the match). It was really cool to both be VIPs at a wedding. Steve and Alex were two of the groomsmen and Michelle and I were both bridesmaids. To top off the amazing wedding in Estes park, it was our first baby-free weekend since Boden was born. Steve and I relaxed in a private suite with a 2 person hot tub on the deck and amazing waterfall/ shower copper tub fireplace wielding room. My parents flew in from California to watch Boden... and although he was wearing and eating some interesting things when we got home; everyone survived!
